Continuing Education (CE)
Mandatory continuing education
The purpose of continuing education activities is to enable members to acquire, maintain, update, improve, deepen and perfect their knowledge, skills and professional skills related to the practice of their profession. These are governed by the ACMA Mandatory Continuing Education Policy.
All ACMA members must follow a continuing education program and accumulate at least 30 hours of continuing education related to the practice of their profession per two-year reference period.
Training activities can only cover topics directly related to your profession and be previously approved by ACMA Association.
2022 - 2023
The current reference period begins on April 1, 2022 and ends on March 31, 2024.
If you wish to have recognition for training that took place during reference periods prior to April 1, 2022, please contact us by email.
Continuing education obligations
As a member of the ACMA, your continuing education obligation involves two obligations:
- Completing at least 30 hours of eligible training during a two-year reference period
- Declaring the training activities taken or exemptions obtained in your online formation.
Eligibility of training activities
In order to maintain the training obligation accessible to all members, the eligibility of training activities is not limited to training offered in the classroom (lectures, conferences, luncheons, training activities related to a convention).
Training activities can also be followed remotely (online training, video-conference, webinar or other technological means).
In addition, there are no geographical restrictions attached to a training activity. A training activity can be held in all regions of Canada as well as outside Canada.
Eligible continuing education activities are:
- Participation in courses organized or offered by other related professional orders of the Canadian professional system;
- Attendance at continuing education courses (whether or not leading to college credit) offered by an accredited Canadian or US educational institution or by a continuing education department and/or service of a Canadian or American university;
- Participation in courses organized or offered by other professional orders related to your profession in Canadian provinces or in courses or seminars organized and offered by Canadian specialty colleges or national associations recognized worldwide;
- Participation in any project, activity or examination organized or endorsed by ACMA Association that demonstrates the possibility of obtaining continuing education credits.
Admissibility of training providers
Training can only be offered by providers who have obtained confirmation of the admissibility of their training activities by ACMA Association.
Providers who request it can obtain confirmation from the ACMA of the eligibility of the training activities they offer. This confirmation means that the ACMA has studied the content and the educational framework of a training activity, and that it has deemed that this training activity meets the criteria of the Regulation.
